Jackson Anderson (b. 1994) is a multifaceted musician, educator, conductor, and composer based in Oklahoma City. With a career that bridges performance, composition, and music education, Jackson is widely recognized for his versatility, creativity, and commitment to student-centered teaching and musical excellence.
As a performer, Jackson is a highly sought-after collaborative pianist, hornist, and vocalist. He performs with the OKC Winds, numerous chamber ensembles, and is a founding member of the high-energy JnJ Dueling Pianos. His musical fluency across classical, sacred, and popular styles allows him to thrive in a wide range of settings—from concert halls to churches to interactive performance venues. As a conductor, Jackson has led school ensembles and professional groups alike, including a guest appearance with the Enid Symphony Orchestra. He is regularly invited to serve as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician at honor band events and festivals across the region.
As a composer, Jackson’s music has reached national audiences and earned critical acclaim. His works have been performed by the Dallas Winds Brass and Percussion, trumpet soloist Dr. Richard Tirk at the International Trumpet Guild Conference in Miami, and by student and professional ensembles across the United States. His compositions—spanning concert band, chamber music, and solo works—have been featured at state contests, festivals, and conferences including the Oklahoma Music Educators Association and the Oklahoma Bandmasters Association. He has received numerous commissions from high school, middle school, and collegiate ensembles, as well as community and professional groups Jackson publishes under his own imprint, Rremboq Music, following initial publication with C.L. Barnhouse Co.
In education, Jackson is a passionate and innovative teacher dedicated to fostering growth through structure, consistency, and compassion. He currently serves as Director of Bands at Irving Middle School and Assistant Director of Bands at Norman High School where he assumed his duties in the Fall of 2025. His ensembles consistently earn Superior Ratings, and he is known for his effective use of Daily Drill routines that enhance musicianship based on fundamentals and rehearsal productivity. Previously, Jackson was Associate Director of Bands at Shawnee Public Schools (2022-2024) and prior to that, revitalized the program at Garber Public Schools as Director of Bands (2016-2021), leading them to several high-profile awards including the 2019 Class 1A OBA Marching State Championship and the Outstanding Achievement Award in 2021 - a first since 1994.
Jackson holds a bachelor’s degree in Instrumental Music Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and is currently pursuing a Master of Music Education (Instrumental Conducting) at the University of Oklahoma, where he has served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant teaching Brass Methods and Instrumental Methods. He studies conducting with Dr. Caroline Hand, composition with Dr. Maria Kaoutzani, and conducts research in music education under the guidance of Dr. Christopher Baumgartner and Dr. Eric Pennello.
A frequent conference presenter and lifelong learner, Jackson regularly attends the Midwest Clinic, regional and state conferences, and is an advocate for early-career educators and rural school programs. His professional affiliations include OkMEA, OBA, TMEA, ASCAP, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Kappa Kappa Psi, Sigma Alpha Iota, and the International Percy Grainger Society. He lives in Oklahoma City with his wife, Katie, a passionate middle school choir director.
