March of the SNipes (2025)
Wind Ensemble - Grade 0.75 - MIDI Demo
If you've ever had a group of friends who pick on each other, chances are you've been on a "Snipe Hunt." While for the purpose of the prank, "snipes" do not exist - making the prank that much funnier - snipes are really funny looking birds with long narrow beaks. I have attempted to emulate these creatures (the imaginary ones or the real bird) and their playfulness in this beginning band march! Using only the first six notes of most beginning band methods (plus a few chromatic notes), this piece is extremely playable by beginning or younger bands. I'm calling it a grade 0.75 due to some of the technique required plus the added chromatic scales. Let this piece be your students' introduction into marches! I hope your students enjoy, "March of the Snipes!"
